Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy as described by World Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with human function and movement and maximising physical potential.

Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.

The CanMEDS seven roles are Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Leader, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional. The Medical Expert role has been changed to Physiotherapy Practitioner in the Physiotherapy Competence Framework.

Visceral Osteopathy

The word viscera refers to the internal organs of the human body that are located within the rib cage and the abdominal and pelvic cavity. Visceral osteopathy is a branch of osteopathy that aims to address these organs' mobility within their natural body position to allow a better function of the whole system.

Visceral manipulation treatment by an experienced and trained osteopath helps to remove any restriction to your stomach (or other organ) and get it back to gliding and sliding properly without any restrictions, so it can functioning properly.

Pediatric

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. The word “paediatrics” means “healer of children”; they are derived from two Greek words: (pais = child) and (iatros = doctor or healer).

A pediatrician is a doctor who focuses on the health of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Pediatric care starts at birth and lasts through a child's 21st birthday or longer. Pediatricians prevent, detect and manage physical, behavioral and developmental issues that affect children.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine which deals with healthcare and management of infants, children, and adolescents. The children who get treated by these healthcare professionals or specialists would be within the age of 21 years, according to American Academy of Pediatrics.

Neurological Therapy

Neurological Physical Therapy encompasses specialized comprehensive evaluation and treatment of individuals with movement problems due to disease or injury of the nervous system.

These include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation psychology, speech and swallow therapy, vision therapy, and language therapy, and therapies focused on daily function and community re-integration. A particular focus is given to improving mobility and strength, as this is key to a person's independence.

Neurophysiotherapy is a specialist branch of physiotherapy dedicated to improving the function of patients who have suffered physical impairment caused by neurological conditions.

CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on massaging technique. It uses a light touch to release tension around your body's connective tissue network called the fascia. CST promotes pain relief from headaches, neck pain and the side effects of cancer treatment

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John

In 1948, William Sutherland had an "Aha" moment that expanded his perspective on cranial osteopathy, a field he created that eventually gave birth to three bodies of CranioSacral Therapy: Upledger, Biodynamic and Visionary.

Cranial osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy is a form of osteopathic therapy. The technique involves gently applying pressure along the head and spine to release pressure. It's based on the idea that manipulating the bones and tissues of your skull can help improve improve a variety of health issues like cancer, cerebral palsy, and asthma..

Parents should seek osteopathic treatment if they find their babies are persistently crying, feeling generally irritable, have colic or suffer from wind.

Matrix rhythm therapy

MRT provides oscillations between 8-12 Hz. This synchronizes with the body to re-establish the disturbed rhythm at cellular level. It improves the oxygen supply by improving the microcirculation thereby improving the energy production causing the relaxation of tissue, muscle, and fascia.

Matrix Rhythm Therapy® is very helpful for the rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions. For spasticity and tightness in cases of neurological disorders. Control the further deterioration of the condition and functions.

Rhythmic Matrix? a chart with one side having the list of instruments being used, and the other side having a list of numbers that represent that beat in time.

Dry needling therapy

When dry needling is applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow and reduce pain. Patients often report immediate relief after treatment. The needles remain in your muscle for a short period of time — between 10 seconds and 20 minutes — during treatment.

You may also feel discomfort during the needling. Sometimes, people don't feel the needle going in because it's so small, but other times, people will feel a prick. When the needle is in the trigger point, it can be painful and cause a twitch response.

Dry needling is typically used to target specific areas of pain or discomfort and may be more effective for individuals with acute or chronic injuries. Massage therapy, on the other hand, may be used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

Vaccum cupping therapy

Suction from the cup helps to loosen rigid tissues and increase blood supply and lymph (defense mechanism of the body) flow to the muscles and skin. It also triggers the nervous system, which helps in relaxing your body and mind.

It's used to help with things like chronic pain, inflammation and other conditions, and athletes and celebrities swear by the practice. However, there is very little data or high-quality research to truly support the benefits of cupping. Cupping is generally safe, but it isn't for everyone.

Cupping leaves temporary marks on the skin. The origin of these marks should be explained to health care providers so that they won't be mistaken for signs of physical abuse. Cupping can cause side effects such as persistent skin discoloration, scars, burns, and infections, and may worsen eczema or psoriasis.

Tapping therapy

EFT tapping is an effective treatment for reducing symptoms of anxiety experienced with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, social anxiety, chronic pain, and more. The overall effect of EFT for treatment of anxiety pretreatment to posttreatment is 1.23, which is a large effect size (Clond, 2016).

In standard, nonclinical EFT, there are nine tapping points: the eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collar bone, under the arm, top of the head, and karate chop.

Most people begin to see the effects of tapping within just a few tapping session rounds, Curtis says. So, this could mean that you begin to feel some relief in just a few minutes. “Changes in your energy, emotions, and thoughts can happen after just one round or three minutes of tapping,” says Curtis.

Stress observation

Stress and anxiety are closely connected. They share many similar symptoms, such as muscle tension, moodiness, and sleep, concentration, and digestive problems. In fact, overwhelming stress can even lead to anxiety and panic attacks.

Stress is our body's response to pressure. Many different situations or life events can cause stress. It is often triggered when we experience something new or unexpected that threatens our sense of self or when we feel we have little control over a situation. We all deal with stress differently.

Stress affects both the mind and the body. A little bit of stress is good and can help us perform daily activities. Too much stress can cause physical and mental health problems. Learning how to cope with stress can help us feel less overwhelmed and support our mental and physical well-being.

Shockwave therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body's natural healing process. It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue.

Shockwave therapy can offer such help, jump-starting the body's ability to regenerate new tissue. It also decreases your pain by directly stimulating your nerves at the site of the injury. Though the name of the treatment makes it sound painful, it's only mildly uncomfortable for most people.

Transient pain, swelling and bruising of the area being treated, and surface skin redness may occur. Small blood vessels may bleed resulting in superficial bruising of the treatment area. Deep tissue aching may present. Healing may be slowed with use of certain medications, particularly anti-inflammatories.
